Rock the Nude Look!

Hey Ladies!
I don't know about you, but winter always seems to be the time where people pull out their ruby red lips and cheeks and banish their pretty pastels to the bottom of their makeup bag. Quite honestly, I don't see why. The snow is out, the air is icy, so why not embrace the lighter look this winter! It's pretty and light (and without that heavy lip color you are much more kissable under that lingering mistletoe that you probably won't remember to take down until April)! Starting with a smooth, nude base can help you build the perfect baby pink, icy shimmer, or even deep burgundy if you insist (you big baby!). My tips to get the perfect nude lips are as follows:
1. EXFOLIATE: Flakes are only pretty in snow form. So do yourself (and your beau!) a favor and scrub them all away. Using an exfoliator for lips works great, but a wet toothbrush will also do the trick.
2. MOISTURIZE 1: Use a lip balm to moisturize your now smooth lips. Make sure to choose a nice, rich formula to lock in moisture all day.
3. FOUNDATION: Surprise! Foundation doesn't have to only be used on your face. Smoothing a skin matching foundation on your lips will help you get them nude fast.
4. CONCEALER: It may seem like overkill to layer a concealer overtop of foundation on your lips, but trust me, it works. The foundation will begin to fade, as it attempts to balance out your skin's levels. Concealer, however, is built to stay in its original form no matter what the conditions. Therefore, it makes the perfect nude as you won't get that annoying glumpy look partway through the day as your nude fades.
5. MOISTURIZE 2: A quick swipe of a moisturizing lip cream will make sure the concealer doesn't look chalky. A balm could be used instead, but a cream works best here.
6. COLOR:  Now it's time to get creative. You can choose to simply add a nude gloss, Try: MaryKay NouriShine Lipgloss in Cream & Sugar ($13), and rock the nude look, or you can layer on a number of different lip colors. PS: Your colors will look different then when you regularily apply them! They will appear more like they do in the tube, as your regular lip color won't be showing through. This makes more unique colors easier to use, and more sheer colors appear more opaqe.
My favorites? (remember prices may vary!)
-Pale baby pink. Think Nars Turkish Delight ($24), Drugstore Dupe: Styli-Style Plastique Lip Gloss in Flirty($8). Layer with a baby pink lipstick for the most pink look.
-Matte Lilac-Rose: Love this. Pair it with a rose flush for the prettiest look. Try: L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Tickled Pink #165 ($8.95)-this is probably one of my favorite lipsticks of all time. The color is unbelievably gorgeous. I'll post a separate review with swatches soon!

I hope you all take the beauty challenge and do a lighter, prettier, more nude lip color this winter!
Many more hugs&misses to come!
XOXO,
